Universal Electric – S Frame Motors

S Frame motors are open wound or skeleton type construction. Bobbin wound stator pack with two aluminium castings to support the sleeve bearings and provide a method of mounting. Usually attached by 2 extended motor through bolts or tapped holes in the bearing bracket at one end. Lowest cost motor design for applications where efficiency and running costs not a priority. Motors are made with plain or threaded shafts and sleeve bearings as standard. Single or multi-speed. Ball bearings specified for high or low operating temperatures and when there is axial thrust from the load. S Frame motors were previously manufactured by Airflow Developments and called the Stemshire motor.

Equivalents: Similar designs of skeleton motors were manufactured by Lothian Electric Machines, LEMAC, Micalex, Smiths Industries, Torin, etc.

Applications: Bathroom fans, back bar cabinets, bottle coolers, combination boilers, cooker hoods, cross flow blowers, dehumidifiers, domestic refrigerators, kitchen plinth heaters, medical equipment, portable electric heaters, refrigeration coolers and condensers, tangential fans, warm air door curtains, warm air fans, wine coolers, etc.

Depending upon the model and quantity required we are more often than not able to offer either a Universal Electric fan motor or an equivalent fan motor which is a suitable replacement. Depending upon the quantity required delivery could be either next day if an option is available from stock otherwise there may be a lead time involved if the product is non-standard.
